Camp Description

YMCA Camp Carter is a
beautiful 360-acre residential camp, day camp and retreat center located just 7
miles from Downtown Fort Worth!

Position Summary

Work in conjunction with
other camp staff to provide high quality programming to schools through Outdoor
Education, as well as to other groups that may use the facilities. This
position will run from August 2018 to May 2019.


  • High school diploma
    or equivalent education required.

  • Previous experience
    working with youth (within a camp setting is preferred).

  • Possess enthusiasm,
    sense of humor, ample patience and flexibility.  

  • Exhibit strong leadership
    skills and a strong passion for providing excellent customer service.

  • Ability to
    appropriately and effectively deal with inappropriate behavior.

Required Certifications

  • CPR/First Aid

  • Lifeguard


Essential Functions

  • Teach Outdoor
    Education classes that cover areas as: orienteering, canoeing, climbing towers,
    teambuilding, aquatic studies, animal adaptations, etc.

  • Ensure safety of
    all participants by checking equipment and keeping a clean space.

  • Assist with set up,
    clean up and animal feeding as necessary.

  • Follow YMCA
    policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary
    situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

  • Report all
    necessary incidents or items in need of repair to immediate supervisor.

  • Be prepared,
    prompt, and enthusiastic to all assigned duties.

  • Interact with
    outdoor education participants from the moment they arrive to the moment they

  • Lead and
    participate in activities all throughout the day, including campfires, evening
    programs, and large group games.

  • Be a professional
    liaison to assist in customer service at all times with any group at camp.

  • Act as a positive
    role model for participants.

  • All other duties as

Room and Board

Outdoor Education
Instructors are provided on-site housing for the duration of their employment
at YMCA Camp Carter. Meals will also be provided whenever a group is dining
with us.
