Veritas Collaborative is a specialty hospital system for the treatment of eating disorders. As a member of the clinical and medical team at Veritas, support and provide leadership and input into the following activities:

  • Support the Medical Director to continually streamline the admissions process for the facility to facilitate timely patient access to care through
    • prompt intake data review
    • removal of barriers
    • ensuring availability of admissions slots through coordination of medical provider schedules
    • interfacing with referral sources and/or patient and families in relationship to the admissions process
  • Embrace the complicated intersection of medical and psychiatric care of ED diagnoses, ensuring the provision of both outstanding medical care and fully integrated psychiatric care.
  • Advocate for appropriate treatment at higher levels of care to achieve clinical outcomes – including completing peer to peer reviews with 3rd party payors and providing necessary information for the utilization review process.
  • Support the Medical Director in providing leadership and guidance to all medical and clinical staff in matters of clinical and medical management for all patients through supervision, consultation, education, and problem/conflict resolution.
  • Provides direct supervision for and management of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. In the temporary absence of the Medical Director, provide supervision for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.  In the temporary absence of the Medical Director, works closely with Executive Director, Clinical Director, Nurse Manager, and Manager of Nutrition Services for the facility.
  • Promotes and educates staff on current practices in the field of eating disorders medicine and psychiatry.
  • In the temporary absence of the Medical Director, responsible for adequate staffing levels of medical staff to serve patients in the facility at all times, to include on-call coverage.
  • Participates in select Committee meetings that support hospital functioning, either in conjunction with, or as a representative of, the Medical Director.
  • Assists with responsible for fiscal management of the medical services department including budget and capital expenditures. Works with Medical Director, Executive Director, and Chief Medical Officer to meet budgetary expectations on an on-going basis.
  • Provides direct patient care and management for patients. Assumes and/or delegates management when necessary for absent medical staff providers.
  • Provides educational forums to patients, family members, and staff as needed.
  • Participates in the optimization of the electronic health record and associated systems
  • Support other departments and leaders in interactions with outside entities including pharmacy services and others as utilized or indicated.
  • Contributes, under the guidance of the Medical Director, to development and revision of all facility specific policies and procedures regarding provision of medical services, in coordination with Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer.
  • Represents Veritas in outreach activities to include speaking engagements, grand rounds presentation, participating in professional visit programming, and other activities as requested.
  • Forges strategic partnerships with hospitals who refer to Veritas, and to whom Veritas refers.
  • Coordinating training opportunities for medical school residents, nursing students, extenders, and other relevant disciplines
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, provide supervision, support and coaching to employees. Other supervisory activities include (but are not limited to):
    • Provide support to the Medical Director for interviewing, hiring, goal development, onboarding and ensuring continuous training requirements and compliance items are met.
    • Assist in development and implementation of local and company-wide provider standards, assist in the development of provider manuals.
    • 1:1 and team meetings to discuss successes, challenges, new projects, innovations, company changes, etc.
    • Assists the Medical Director in monitoring medical staff performance and, at the direction of the Medical Director, provides leadership for performance improvement, timely coaching and disciplinary action (delivery and documentation), as needed
    • Completing performance reviews for employees within company designated timeframes
    • In the temporary absence of the Medical Director, maintain employees’ timecards in Payroll system, ensuring the correct hours are accounted for, overtime is managed, and paid-time off request are promptly addressed.
  • Participates in active meal support and coaching with patients and families, consuming meals as needed or assigned, and supports the medical team in doing the same.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Education

  • MD or DO Psychiatry
  • BC/ BE in Child & Adolescent or General Psychiatry
  • CEDS, preferred
  • Current Certifications Required or ability to obtain certifications of:
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • First Aid (FA)
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI Blue Card)
  • Possession of a current Georgia License to practice medicine.
  • Current unrestricted DEA license.
  • Completion of Residency program in General Psychiatry and/or Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in inpatient psychiatric settings.
  • Two to three years prior leadership experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of the assessment and diagnosis of DSM-V and of Eating Disorders.
  • Extensive experience in the treatment of Eating Disorders                                                      
  • Experience with guiding practice in compliance with pertinent National, State and The Joint Commission regulations governing treatment facilities and inpatient psychiatric facilities.

Specific Skills

  • Must possess and demonstrate a high degree of leadership, transparency, organizational ability, and outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hospital system management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census flex is required.
  • Strong knowledge of EMR systems and strong computer skills, including; Microsoft Suite and Outlook. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional boundaries. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with patients, families, peers and manager.
  • Follows all procedures and protocols for patient care and documentation.
  • Exercises good judgement regarding interpersonal interactions with patients, families, peers and manager at all times.
  • Completes continuing education requirements as mandated by credentialing agencies.
  • Works with team; builds and fosters professional relationships.
