Program Director-The Salvation Army Sallie House
The Salvation Army,
an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job
opening for an Program Director for The Salvation Army Sallie House, located in St. Petersburg,
Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors the day-to-day
operations of Sallie House, which provides professional and stable placement
for children in crisis. The position
implements and evaluates program operations and services; supervises all
program staff and ensures work complies, with established policies and
procedures, with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as contractual
obligations. Ensures integration into
other Salvation Army services and programs.
The Program Director will serve to comply and maintain relationships
with Sallie House employees, cooperates and reports to the Director of Social
Services all compliance matters, licensing, accreditation, grant and
Supervises and monitors all the day-to-day
activities of the program pertaining to all housing, facility maintenance,
nutritional needs of the children, as well as addressing medical needs, vehicle
logs, food, clothing, furniture, educational, vocational assistance. Ensures
that the facility and all program matters follow established Salvation Army
mission and policies and procedures. The
Program Director will work closely with interviewing prospective children for
admission to the program, determines eligibility, adhering and implementing
strict guidelines for reporting incidents, and proper documentation is
kept. High level of confidentiality for
protection of the children and is responsible to report any negligence or
suspected abuse in accordance to The Salvation Army’s policies and procedures
and the employee manual.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the practices of social work,
psychology or related field. Knowledge of domestic, sexual abuse, crisis
intervention counseling with children. Ability to facilitate Office management,
training of employees, maintaining all certification updates for employees,
maintenance and approval and entry of payroll, employee time sheets,
disciplinary action, communication, high interpersonal skills, and problem
solving. Provides leadership in the community and public speaking as needed.
Licenses and Certifications
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Education and Experience
Masters degree from an accredited college or
university, in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
And/or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited
college or university in Social Work, Psychology or related field, with a
minimum of two years progressively responsible experience in administering and
developing social services programs. Or any equivalent combination of training
and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to type
and key information into a computer.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability
to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter,
computer, and adding machine. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to
detail and problematic solving. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or
occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort
required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects
(less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.
Work is performed in a normal office
environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with
changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the
like. In a congregate setting for supervision of service delivery to children.
