The Salvation Army, an Internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Camp Music Conservatory Stagecraft Studio Coordinator for the Arkansas and Oklahoma Conservatory of Music and Arts, located in Welling, OK.

Job Summary

This is a summer position at Camp Heart O Hills.  Dates of employment are June 4, 2019 - July 14, 2019.  This position summary should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this position summary.

Teaches a well balanced program in sound, media presentations, and lighting; Teach campers to use their knowledge in a proper worship service; Serve as A/V engineer for all conservatory programs; Provide private lessons;  Review assigned homework with students and re-teach skills if necessary; Prepare campers for recitals and performances; Supervises the maintenance and daily operations of the program equipment; Recommends and develops activities which will develop creative abilities, motor and learning skills of campers; Coordinates the program and activity with the policies and operating procedures of camp; Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of campers, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods; Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations; Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience;  Participate and assist in various classes as assigned;  Schedules performances and ensures that all necessary supplies for a performance  or class are donated or purchased.

 

Participate enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other camp activities and functions; Sit with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed; Keep personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection; Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Conservatory Director.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge and ability to teach well rounded Stagecraft curriculum.  Ability to foster team work and confidence with youth; Ability to assist youth in planning and goal setting for personal and team activities; Ability to recruit and train volunteers; Ability to work with diverse people from all social and economic backgrounds.

 

Ability to communicate, work with, and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff; Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques; Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity; Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers; knowledge of audio/visual equipment operation, set-up, and maintenance.
 

Education and Experience

Six months experience teaching and operating sound, lighting, and media, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Licenses and Certifications

CPR and First Aid Certified. Training will be provided at camp.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Some physical requirements of this position could include climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. The conservatory schedule operates 7 days a week, and all staff members are expected to be available for duty at all times unless otherwise noted by the Conservatory Director. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.
