Building Maintenance Worker & Custodian

Location: Central Virginia Area Command

Position Type: Regular, Full-Time

Pay Range: $13.50-$17.00

About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for daily cleaning and maintenance of the building and grounds to ensure the neatness and cleanliness of the property assigned. Perform routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work; perform routine grounds keeping work to ensure the beautification of the landscape.

Key responsibilities:

• Performs routine building maintenance activities; performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets; performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
• Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms; cleans sinks and toilets, polishes mirrors, and replenishes supplies.
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, buffs and waxes floors. Keeps sidewalks clean and free of debris.
• Drives vehicle in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work.

What we are looking for in you:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid State Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
