Your role includes ensuring the quality of our programs, prioritizing camper safety, and being a positive role model. From overseeing daily schedules to creating memorable moments throughout the day, your contribution is vital in shaping a positive camp experience. Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervision and Guidance:

• Provides guidance and positive role modeling to campers, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Trains and supervises an assigned group of Camp Counselors. 
• Plans, coordinates and direct the functions of the counselors within the camping program.
• Plans, implements, and coordinates activities as needed, according to daily schedule, for an assigned group of campers.
• Demonstrates Christian values and principles in all interactions, serving as a positive example for campers.
• Demonstrates effective camper behavior management and utilizes appropriate communication and discipline techniques as trained, when required.
• Promotes and stimulates camper participation to enhance their overall camp experience.

2. Cabin Management

• Lives with a group of campers, assisting each camper in adjusting to camp life. Enforces compliance with camp rules, safety, and health regulations within the cabin.
• Supervises cabin clean-up and work details, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized living space.
• Sits with camper tables during meals, serving as a table monitor. Maintains a positive, relaxed atmosphere during mealtimes, encouraging conversation and camaraderie among campers.
• Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and reports on attendance, development progress, and discipline.

3. Camp Community Engagement

• Actively promotes and embodies the values of Camp Hoblitzelle's summer camp program, fostering an environment that aligns with the camp's mission and principles. • Participates enthusiastically as a team member in all-camp activities, evening programs, and special events.
• Integrates faith into daily activities, contributing to the spiritual growth and development of campers within the Christian camp community.

4. Program & Activities Assistance

• Assists with camp program activities and other assigned tasks, collaborating closely with camp program, instructional staff and other team members.
• Promotes quality of programs and safety of campers at all times in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
• Engages in essential ministry duties, including sharing approved devotional content, participating in prayer sessions with campers, and participating in camp worship times.

5. Safety and Security

• Ensures the accountability, security, and safety of campers during all camp activities.
• Reports all accidents to supervisors promptly and accurately, following camp procedures.

What we are looking for in you:

• Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or GED preferred. A heart for others and a mind towards Christ.
• Should be self-motivated and teachable.
• Prior knowledge and skills training in Child Education, Children’s Ministry, Outdoor/Sports Education or similar filed is recommended but not required.
• A willingness to abide by Camp Hoblitzelle’s doctrinal statement and policies. CPR & First Aid Certified or capable of passing qualification (Cert.opportunities provided during Staff Training week.)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements of the Camp Counselor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Leadership (Head) Staff Orientation will be held 05/30/2024 - 06/02/2024 and participation is required. 

Camp Staff Orientation will be held 06/03/2024 – 06/09/2024 and participation is required.  The 2024 Summer Camp Program will be held 06/10/2024 though 07/21/2024.  If you are unable to work the entire season, please let us know on your application.
