Elementary Program K-5 Bus Driver

Job Summary: Provide daily transportation for K-8 after school and summer programs. Responsible for maintaining daily communication with Manager and other staff members who are responsible for coordinating the daily transportation schedule. Duties are completed in a timely manner with attention to safety, punctuality, and a high level of professionalism.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete pick up and drop off of students to and from designated areas
  • Ensure safety of students during transport
  • Keep an up to date insurance card in the vehicle
  • Responsible for maintaining a valid driver’s license
  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle inspections
  • Ensure that the exterior and the interior of the vehicles are clean at all times
  • Maintain professional, appropriate and safe conduct with students who are transported
  • Ensure that all important information regarding the vehicle and the students is regularly communicated to the K-8 Program Manager and HLCCTL Operations Coordinator
  • Responsible for keeping the fuel tank at an adequate level at all times and turn in receipts for tracking
  • Keep an accurate record of each trip including mileage and destination
  • Ensure that van use during the assigned hours is for the purposes assigned by the program manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  •         Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) *Required*
  •      DMV-S Endorsement *Required*
  •      High School diploma or GED 
  •         Driving record that meets Project HOME insurance standards
  •         Van certified
  •         Prior experience working with at risk youth and young adults
  •         Successful completion of all clearances


Preferred Experience:

·         Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and other computer software tools
 
Experience in commercial properties
