MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

 

Kenosha County is looking for a first shift, full time Maintenance Technician to help keep Kenosha County campuses clean and well maintained.  The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager and may be assigned to work at any of the Kenosha County campuses, including Civic Center, Public Safety Building, Detention Center, Job Center, County Center, or Brookside Care Center.

2024 Hiring Range:  $23.43 - $26.62 per hour

 

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position.  Hours for first shift are generally Monday through Friday, but may work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays, as needed.

 

Position Summary and Job Duties

  • Performs status checks of boilers and air conditioning units
  • Cleans restrooms and floors
  • Removes snow on designated campus
  • Assembles and repairs office furniture
  • Cuts keys and changes lock cores
  • Repairs sinks, showers, and toilets
  • Replaces light bulbs and ballasts
  • Changes filters, belts, and grease motors
  • Cleans air conditioning coils
  • Inspects generators and elevators
  • Assists with supervision of custodial staff
  • Fills in for Maintenance Manager as required
  • May be on call 24/7 for emergencies
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

 

Success Factors

Knowledge of:

  • Schneider and Trane BAS and door security software
  • Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and painting
  • Akita Box Facilities Maintenance software system
  • Best Lock Systems – cutting keys and creating cores
  • Plow/salt truck operation, along with skid steers
  • Microsoft Office Outlook (e-mail and calendar functions), Word, and Excel

Ability to:

  • Work in tight areas and awkward positions, including on a ladder
  • Work outdoors during inclement weather
  • Remain professional and courteous at all times
  • Work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive environment

 

Job Requirements, Education, Training and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three years of custodial and equipment maintenance work   

 

Licenses or Certifications

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of hire and maintain during incumbency, with acceptable driving record
  • Must possess a third-class Low-Pressure Boiler Operator License in Wisconsin, or be able to obtain within one year
