Summer Adventure Club - Program Specialist

The Adventure Club of YMCA Camp Halfmoon, in Goffstown NH, is seeking Program Specialists for the summer 2024 season!  If you are looking for a fulfilling summer job where you can build your leadership skills, have a meaningful impact on others, and enjoy your summer on adventure trips, traveling, and having fun with a supportive team – this is the opportunity for YOU!

Our club is a trip-based camp that serves youth in grades 5 - 10 while coaching campers to build relationships, try new things, make memories, and ensure camper safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models.  We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y.

Adventure Club activities may include hiking, backpacking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, and challenge courses among other activities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and participate in a variety of adventure based activities
• Implement and follow all safety protocols and equipment maintenance
• Build positive nurturing relationships with campers
• Build cooperative relationships with coworkers, supervisors and parents
• Help support Director and fellow Program Specialists in behavior management and activities during trips and activities
• Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building
• Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage
• Transport campers and gear to designated adventure location in a mini bus

Qualifications:

• At least 21 years old with a clean driving record
• Ability to become qualified as a mini bus driver (training provided onsite)
• Must be willing and able to obtain CPR & First Aid Certifications, or currently hold
• Must be available to attend camp trainings before and during camp season
• Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work
• Experience working or volunteering with youth in a recreation, or similar setting, preferred
• Relevant adventure program experience
• Previous experience being a camp counselor (minimum 2 years), preferred
• Preferred currently holds lifeguard certification; or willing and able to obtain

Position Specifics:

• Camp season runs 07/08/2024 through 08/16/2024 and must be able to work a majority of the camp weeks
• Pay range $14 - $16 depending upon experience (30-40 hours/wk)
