Head Lifegaurd

Camp Coney Pine is looking for an experienced sports professional, who is dedicated to safety, to join our Aquatics team as a Head Lifeguard for summer 2024. 

Our camp, a traditional outdoor day camp, has a team of Lifeguards that support and oversee camp swim time throughout the summer. We serve youth ages 6-15 at camp and ensure safety all while having fun and acting as positive role models. We strive to build supportive and empowering teams to help all team members show up as their best and most authentic selves, so that you can learn, grow and thrive during your tenure at the Y. 

In addition to the general supervision of the pool, the Head Lifeguard must have the ability to recognize and respond to hazardous situations. They must be able to supervise swimmers, minimize dangers, educate members about water safety, enforce rules and give assistance whenever needed. The Head Lifeguard supervises a team of lifeguards and acts as the Aquatics lead when the Aquatics Director is not present. 

Eligible candidates should possess a current Red Cross Lifeguard or YMCA Lifeguard certification (recertification provided if needed) and additional First Aid related certifications.

• Build positive nurturing relationships with campers and YMCA members 
• Build cooperative relationships with coworkers and supervisor 
• Engage with campers in a way that fosters Character building 
• Uphold the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Courage 

Qualifications: 

• Must be currently Lifeguard certified 
• Minimum of 2 year’s lifeguarding experience
• Demonstrated experience managing a team in a related functional area
• Must be available to attend camp-specific trainings before and throughout camp season
• Able to bring a patient, caring, responsible, flexible and positive attitude to work 

Position Specifics: 

• Summer season runs 06/24/24 through 08/23/24 and must be able to work a majority of the weeks 
• Pay range $16- $18 depending upon experience
