Franklin International, a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking a PSM (Process Safety Management) Coordinator for our manufacturing facility. This position reports to the EHS & S (Environmental, Health, Safety and Security) Manager and is responsible for coordinating the implementation of Franklin’s Process Safety (PSM) and Risk Management Programs (RMP) to ensure compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations, to meet ISO requirements, and to identify, correct and improve processes and programs from both a safety and productivity perspective.

 

Fundamental Job Tasks

  • Ensures safety of employees, customers, and the local community by coordinating the PSM and MOC programs.  Ensures that all manufacturing processes are safe.
  • Utilizes knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, and safety to analyze Franklin’s processes for risks.  Evaluates processes including identifying problems in equipment or machinery, or leaks either inherent or induced.
  • Anticipates problems with fulfilling PSM/RMP.  Prioritizes new and revalidates previous PHA and PSSR studies.  Leads management efforts in determining PHA recommendation assignments and requirements.
  • Keeps emergency response equipment in a ready mode.
  • Provides assistance to employees, management and the community about EH&S issues when help is requested or a need is identified.
  • Facilitates wise decision-making by keeping appropriate parties informed.  Conducts regular employee safety meetings; performs contractor safety training.  Provides regular progress updates to management.
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies by implementing plans and policies and performing appropriate monitoring and record-keeping.   Interprets rules and laws, including: OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, NFPA, and NEC.  Completes federal, state, and local reports.  Keeps accurate and detailed records of work undertaken.  Completes EPA reports on a monthly, semi-annual, and annual basis.

Supports all EH&S programs and activities on an as-needed and ongoing basis. Motivates team members and gains cooperation by developing a good rapport.

Knowledge and Skills

College degree: BA, BS 4-6 months’ formal training, and 1-3 years of work experience. Strong computer skill required. A thorough knowledge of Federal and state OSHA and EPA regulations regarding PSM, RMP, RCRA, and CWA.  AutoCAD experience is desired.  Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams is necessary for several aspects of PSM/ RMP.

 

Working Conditions

This position frequently performs work in the manufacturing areas subjected to extreme noise and temperature variation.  When in such environments, this position is required to wear the appropriate eye, ear, head, and foot protection (PPE).  Some work (up to 66%) will be in a standard office environment.  Minimal day travel may be required 0-10% of the time.
