Coder IV- Adult Inpatient

CU Medicine is dedicated to providing healthcare and administrative support to the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine’s nearly 3,000+ providers.  We are seeking a  highly motivated Coder IV to support the Adult Inpatient team.


This position will be responsible for the review and processing of professional charge documents and ensuring accurate and timely billing. 


Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform accurate analysis of medical records to obtain necessary information for the appropriate sequencing and assignment of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
  • Collaborate with providers in assigned areas and provide feedback to management regarding documentation issues or reoccurring errors.
  • Utilize software applications and information systems to perform tasks related to patient encounters and/or services.

Requires a minimum of 2 years of coding experience with demonstrated expertise in procedural and diagnosis coding.  Knowledge/understanding of teaching physician guidelines is strongly preferred.  Must have strong knowledge in all E&M coding.  CPC or equivalent AHIMA coding certification required; CPMA or other specialty certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to success.  Must demonstrate strong computer and Microsoft Office software skills. EMR and Practice Management software experience is also a required competency.  The ideal candidate will be proficient in reporting and analytics.
