The Production Manager will be responsible for managing the manufacturing floor and all employees through 6 (six) supervisors. The Production Manager will learn ever role (Blend Tech, Fork Truck Driver, etc.), as well as become knowledgeable of Calumet Packaging inventory and scheduling systems.


  • Lead packaging team to produce the right quality product, in the right time, the right way
  • Develop a flexible team that can quickly address all customer issues and requests
  • Optimize proper line set-ups and minimize changeovers including materials on hand prior to run
  • Work with the Planner to ensure optimum production scheduling with personnel, equipment, and product
  • Participate in the employee selection process for the manufacturing floor employees to assure high talent selection
  • Ability to identify ineffective processes and make recommendations to improve processes
  • Endure proper training of all packaging and blending personnel including proper documentation
  • Develop and maintain proper staffing for the packaging and blending departments based on the production plan and operating efficiencies of the equipment
  • Manage and effective EHS program that demonstrates the Company’s commitment to EHS compliance
  • Ensure accurate tracking if downtime, scrap, overtime, and fluid inventory and develop plans to minimize each both short term and long term
  • Ensure procedures are in place and being adhered to
  • Record unit and blend production in system to assure quality products are being manufactured
  • Endure proper stocking of raw materials that will enable flexible manufacturing schedule while containing costs
  • Manage overtime and use of temp labor effectively to optimize the production plan and maintain costs
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping that will enable the effective safety program and also s customer showplace
  • Develop programs that will effectively utilize scrap, rework, waste, and flush into profitable revenue streams and products  


  • 5+ years of supervisory experience and 10+ years in manufacturing and packaging business
  • Knowledge of petroleum products

  • Capable of strategic thinking and execution of strategic plans
  • Driven to achieve goals


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Strong business acumen that will enable this individual to connect the dots on Calumet Packaging’s business model and enable manufacturing to develop into a competitive advantage
  • Strong leadership skills that will enable the manufacturing organization to develop into a high-performance team
  • Mechanical aptitude and prior experience on filling and packaging machines
  • Manufacturing experience with automated systems
  • Packaging and blending experience
  • Ability to deal with difficult people in high risk, high stress situations
  • Previous experience in hazardous materials
  • Able to identify areas that need improvement, then create and execute efficient resolution plans
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations
