We are currently looking for a Construction Manager for our Baton Rouge, LA office.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Provide on-site Construction leadership on assigned projects.  Act as Boardwalk’s authorized representative in dealing with Contractor on day-to-day construction issues and in formal correspondence as needed for proper documentation and resolution. 

 

Work closely with Engineering, Operations and other Company departments in planning and constructing a safe and efficient pipeline system in compliance with all company, regulatory, and professional requirements while meeting targets for safety, budget, schedule and completion documentation.  Participate in constructability reviews at various stages of project development and design.  Develop plan for on-site inspection staffing needs, manage selection and hiring of appropriate resources, and provide on-site supervision for the site inspection staff during project execution phase to assure compliance is maintained in all required areas.  Ensures inspectors are properly trained in safety, OSHA and PHMSA regulations, Company guidelines, welding procedures, FERC compliance, and are OQ qualified on applicable tasks.  Accountable for completing all required project documentation in a timely manner.

 

Responsible for the coordination of construction activities as required.   For smaller projects (generally less than $2MM), this includes acting as project manager, scoping and estimating the project costs, specifying and ordering materials,  following company design and O&M manuals and all applicable Company specifications, coordinating the effort to obtain permits, obtaining project approvals,  preparing bid packages if necessary and selecting as well as managing multiple contractors, particularly in areas of costs, schedule and compliance with all laws and regulations (DOT, OSHA, FERC), assuring a quality work product.

 

This position may require extensive travel across the BWP system to support assigned projects and requires long days, possibly 6-7 days per week on a regular basis

 

This position requires being able to lift at least 50 lbs. as well as walking long distances across various terrains and in all weather conditions.

 

The successful candidate must live somewhere on BWP system, preferably in South Louisiana.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in design and/or construction of natural gas and/or liquid facilities
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Natural Gas Industry experience
  • Strong oral and written communication administrative/organization and analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to read and implement the O & M manual and other compliance documents
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret and implement BWP construction specs, contract documents, drawings, alignment sheets, valve maps, line owner lists, O&M Manual, etc
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple responsibilities and assignments
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal direct supervision, self-motivated
  • Have good decision making skills in abnormal situations, be able to manage and motivate contractors and 3rd party support staffs effectively
  • Commitment to train and become proficient on performing and inspection of safety sensitive tasks related to working on and around in-service pipelines
  • Analytical approach to technical problems
  • Sound critical and economic thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong computer application skills required including proficiency with all Microsoft Office Products

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5 Years of industry construction experience in a leadership role that included supervision duties, estimating project costs, managing schedule and controlling project costs
  • Good working knowledge of DOT 192, DOT 195, FERC, OSHA and API 1104 requirements
  • Welding Background
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Drive to stay current on technology, industry standards, materials, regulations

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

 

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 10 Years of Relevant Experience+

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION: 

 

  • College or Two-Year Technical Degree
