We are currently looking for an Associate Field Technician/ Field Technician/ Sr. Field Technician for our Channelview, TX office.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

This position is responsible for carrying out daily operations and maintenance tasks associated with pipeline activities and assisting with operations and maintenance of BLM’s facilities located in Port Neches, TX, Port Arthur, TX, and Channelview, TX. The position will be responsible for environmental health and safety for ethylene, ethane, ammonia, and Hydrogen Chloride (HCl) through the pipeline system, pump stations, and associated facilities in the assigned operating area. Specific duties will include, but are not limited to, corrosion control, valve inspection and maintenance, damage prevention via One Calls, pipeline patrolling, preventive pipeline maintenance, and operations related to meter stations, valve sites, pump stations, and right-of-way maintenance activities. Additionally, the position will assist and support construction and repairs of pipelines and associated facilities. Responsibilities also include recognizing and reporting abnormal and safety-related operating conditions, accident, and near-miss reporting, as well as emergency response. Regulatory compliance, operations, maintenance, and repair procedures associated with DOT 195, DOT 192, industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company guidelines regarding facility equipment and appurtenances are also part of the position's responsibilities. The position will be expected to respond to call-outs and be part of the on-call rotation for pipeline operations and emergency or abnormal situations. The successful candidate will be able to obtain the necessary agency requirements to enter facilities within the area of responsibility.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • 1 to 3 years of petro-chemical pipeline operations and maintenance experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, problem solving skills and a history of safe work are required.
  • Ability to work outside in hot, cold, muddy, and wet environments and ability to stand for long periods of time and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to utilize a PC and manage a filing system.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet.
  • Ability to operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns.

 

 

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5 (plus) years of pipeline operations and maintenance experience
  • Understanding of DOT 195 regulations
  • Understanding of DOT 192 regulations
  • Technical school or college

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

 

  • High School Diploma

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

 

  • Associate Degree
