Bristol Bay Native Corporation is on the lookout for a committed and talented individual to fill the role of Village Resource Specialist in Naknek,  Alaska! In this vital role, you'll be the cornerstone of the Naknek community outreach and support, assisting local individuals in accessing a wide range of services and opportunities. Your responsibilities will include responding to inquiries, providing resource materials, organizing community activities, coordinating with regional organizations, and maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Respond to inquiries regarding BBNC and assist local individuals in gaining access to services.
  • Provide and assist with a variety of resource materials; employment applications, government forms, burial assistance, preparing resumes, etc.
  • Assist and serve as contact and resource person for BBNC in organizing and coordinating village activities and meetings.
  • Provide technical assistance as well as coordinating and facilitating services provided by other regional organizations and agencies to meet the needs of local residents.
  • Post and make aware regional job announcements locally.
  • Staff a one-person resource office to assemble, maintain and provide a variety of resource materials needed to carry out duties of the job.
  • Submit narrative and statistical reports as required on a monthly basis.
  • Attend annual community resource training organized by BBNC.
  • Demonstrates strict confidentiality with all private information.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity in all actions sufficient to comply with all business, governmental, and local community regulations, standards, and expectations.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with a minimum amount of supervision or support.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism in the workplace at all times.
  • Be dedicated to understanding and exceeding client expectation/needs.
  • Participates in educational and development opportunities in the pursuit of continuous professional self-improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, make decisions, solve problems and exercise good judgment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including thorough knowledge of proper grammar, advanced vocabulary, spelling, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain poise when dealing with high-pressure situations.
  • Good public contact skills and knowledge of proper telephone etiquette.
  • Good understanding of subject areas typically raised by shareholders who contact the department.
  • Working knowledge of ANCSA as it relates to the subject areas typically raised by shareholders.
  • Word processing skills; accurate data entry skills; and working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision.
  • High degree of sensitivity regarding confidential information

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three years of relevant work experience
  • Must be willing and available to travel throughout the Bristol Bay Region

 

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Work performed in a professional office facility.

Hiring preference will be given to BBNC shareholders/descendants and Alaska Natives in accordance with Public Law 93-638.
