The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the nation’s leading trade and lobby association representing the trucking industry, is actively seeking a politically-savvy and strategic Senior Director of Media & Communications.


As the Senior Director of Media & Communications, you will advance communication efforts, focusing on earned media opportunities, reporter engagement, and building strong relationships with stakeholders. Serving as a spokesperson for our trade association, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance our industry presence.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a primary spokesperson, fostering strong relationships with media, the public, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans, ensuring effective management during potential crises.
  • Serve as a key spokesperson in crisis situations, delivering accurate information to the media and the public.
  • Collaborate internally to create impactful content showcasing the association's initiatives and achievements.
  • Edit and proofread communication materials for accuracy and brand adherence.
  • Develop compelling content for various channels, maintaining consistent messaging and branding.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials and industry partners.
  • Represent the association at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Support advocacy efforts and communicate policy positions to stakeholders in collaboration with internal teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in strategic communications, media relations, or public affairs (10 years).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
  • Experience in crisis communication and issues management.
  • Knowledge of the trucking industry or trade associations is a plus.
